Shocking review from Lee’s Summit Place
A recent review posted on Google from a Courtney Hargrove, claims some serious issues only 6 months ago while her father father was a resident of Lee’s Summit Place at 1501 SW 3rd Street in Missouri.
I wouldn’t recommend Lee’s Summit Place based on my father’s experience during his nine‑day stay. I witnessed several serious issues:
- He was left suspended in a lift sling for about 10-15 minutes while staff changed his bed.
- He was often left sitting alone in a chair and began sliding out of it. Even after I pressed the call button, it took roughly 20 minutes for anyone to respond.
- When I sought help, staff were rude and told me not to press the call button.
- Despite his minced‑food diet, he was served full‑size burritos and other inappropriate meals. Including cold burnt hot dogs.
- His room was dirty and not cleaned the entire time of his stay.
- I repeatedly requested pain medication; it took seven days before he finally received any.
- He has complex needs, including a feeding tube, yet I felt the staff did not provide the care he required. Within nine days of admission, he suffered another severe stroke.
These are my personal observations, but I felt my father’s needs were not met and that we were treated without compassion or respect.

Another review only 3 months ago from a Michelle Kauffman claims the following:
What a rip off this place was! It started out costing 14,000 a month somehow they want 21,000 a month from us two months in a row! We still have not figured out where the extra amount came, And they refuse to release my mother until $21,000 is a paid. The hallways stink. All they do basically is keep your loved one alive. I was not one bit impressed and we have chosen another long care facility less than a mile away that is TWICE as nice as Lees Summit Place and only 6700 a month for long term cares! I must also add that the hospital gave us no choice on where they were going to send her and of course they sent her to the most expensive place in town making me wonder if there’s some kind of fishy stuff going on behind my the scenes. Very unprofessional. Needless to say, we are in the process of moving her as soon as we pay them 21,000! She was there less than 3 months, but have paid them 45,000 total! I will let you do the math.
Needless to say, always be careful! These reviews seem to be a pattern at several Vertical Health Services facilities!
